Section Coordinator

The Section Coordinator (SC) serves as the primary point of contact for USPSA in a given geographic area. This leadership role is essential to the growth, organization, and compliance of USPSA activities within the section.

Promote the Sport

• Encourage Club Affiliation: Promote practical shooting by encouraging clubs to affiliate with USPSA and supporting the formation of new clubs.
• Organize the Section: Serve as the driving force in organizing the section and expanding participation in the sport.

Provide Contact and Guidance

• Annual Club Visits: Visit each club in the section at least once per year to maintain engagement and visibility.
• Regular Communication: Maintain consistent communication with club leadership through phone or email.
• Rule Compliance: Ensure matches are held in accordance with USPSA rules and principles. If a club deviates from these standards:
  • Provide constructive guidance to bring them back into compliance.
  • If non-compliance continues, document the occurrences and your attempts to resolve the issues.
  • Escalate persistent, blatant non-compliance to the Area Director and USPSA Headquarters, with a recommendation for disaffiliation if necessary.

Manage the Section

• Conflict Resolution: Work with clubs to resolve issues and reduce conflicts within the section.
• Activity Reporting: Ensure clubs are submitting activity reports and match results in a timely manner.
• Liaison with USPSA: Keep the USPSA President informed about conditions within the section. Recommend clubs for affiliation or disaffiliation based on compliance with USPSA guidelines.
• Rule Authority: Section Coordinators may interpret and apply USPSA rules for events within their section. These decisions are subject to review by the USPSA President or Board of Directors.

Promote Membership Benefits

Help clubs and individuals understand the value of USPSA membership and affiliation. Emphasize that:

• Everyone benefits from a strong, nationally recognized sport.
• Membership supports the right to keep and bear arms.
• A larger membership base helps establish practical shooting as a legitimate, respected sport.
• Member benefits include:
  • Classification scores recorded in the national database
  • Classification in up to eight divisions
  • Eligibility to compete in Level II and Level III matches
  • Access to members-only areas of the USPSA website
  • Subscription to the bi-monthly USPSA Magazine
