Purpose of Activity Points

What They’re For
Activity Points allow USPSA clubs (or sections) to earn slots for USPSA National Events.

How They Work
Each club’s (or section’s) total Activity Points for the year are tabulated, and those totals help determine how many (if any) slots that club or section gets to the various USPSA National Championships.

How Activity Points Are Earned

Match Upload & Activity Fee

• A club receives 1 point for every dollar paid in USPSA Activity Fees.
• For example, if each competitor’s Activity Fee is $5, and 40 competitors shoot, the total Activity Fee is $200. That results in 200 Activity Points just from the fees.

Bonus Points for Current USPSA Members

• A club receives 0.25 of a point (i.e., a quarter-point) for each competitor who is an active USPSA member.
• These “bonus points” are added on a per-division basis.
• Example: If in a single division there were 9 current USPSA members, that division gets an additional 2.25 points (9 × 0.25)

Activity Points Are Earned by Division

• Points from each competitor go into the specific division(s) they competed in.
• This is important because National slots are allocated by division.

Timing Matters

Activity Points only count if the matches are uploaded, verified, and paid for before USPSA calculates the yearly totals. This is typically done 30 days before slots are distributed, but can vary.

Example: Putting It All Together

Match Details:

• 3 divisions: Open (10 shooters), PCC (10 shooters), Carry Optics (20 shooters)
• 3 classifier stages → $5 Activity Fee per competitor → $5 × 40 total competitors = $200 total Activity Fees

Base Points: $200 in Activity Fees → 200 points earned

• Open gets 10 competitors × $5 = 50
• PCC gets 10 competitors × $5 = 50
• Carry Optics gets 20 competitors × $5 = 10
• Total = 200 points

Bonus Points (0.25 per USPSA member in each division)

• If 9 out of 10 shooters in each division are USPSA members →
  9 × 0.25 = 2.25 bonus points per division
• Open gets 50 + 2.25 = 52.25
• PCC gets 50 + 2.25 = 52.25
• Carry Optics gets 100 + 2.25 = 102.25

Sections vs. Independent Clubs

• Sections: Most USPSA clubs are part of a “section.” When multiple clubs belong to the same section, their Activity Points add up to a collective total for that section. This typically helps ensure they earn enough combined points to receive slots.
• Independent Clubs: Some clubs are recognized as “independent” because of geographic or business-related reasons. These clubs do not combine their points with others.
• Because they earn points only from their own matches, many independent clubs end up with fewer points and may not receive slots to Nationals.
